KelliHead Veterinary Technician Kelli Tromans has been working with animals for close to 25 years, and she's been a valued member of our team since 1995. Her job responsibilities include inventory, scheduling, assisting with surgeries, X-rays, dentals, equipment upkeep and assisting in exam rooms. Kelli most enjoys the challenge of restoring sick animals to good health.

"Doctors will take their time here to explain things to me, which is extremely helpful," Kelli says. "It's a real family atmosphere."

At home, Kelli enjoys spending her free time with her three children, as well as cooking, traveling, and going to hockey games. She's the pet parent to two Chihuahuas named Bully and Beanie, as well as three Guinea Pigs named Piggy, Chocolate and Matty.

GerardoVeterinary Technician Gerardo Clavijo has been a staff member at Essex Animal Hospital since 2002, and he has over 21 years of experience in animal-related positions. Gerardo's job responsibilities at our animal hospital include assisting doctors in surgery and dental procedures, as well as working with clients in exam rooms. He indicates that he most enjoys assisting with surgeries. Gerardo has his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine.

"Every day is fun and interesting, and the services we provide to our clients make everything worthwhile," Gerardo says.

In his free time, Gerardo enjoys traveling, visiting places in New York City, listening to music, and gardening. He cares for a Chihuahua named Milena, as well as Beta fish and tropical fish.

ShirleyVeterinary Technician Shirley Silva Rosario has been a member of the Essex Animal Hospital staff since 2012, and she's assumed a wide range of responsibilities at our hospital. Shirley's duties include assisting in appointments, acting as an assistant in surgery and dentals, taking X-rays, ordering medicine for clients, running blood tests, and taking blood from clients. She has her Associate's degree in Specialized Veterinary Technology.

"I love to see patients grow up when they come visit us regularly," Shirley says. "It's wonderful when I build a bond with clients when I take care of their pets and they become familiar with me."

Shirely has recently become a mother, and spends her time outside of the hospital taking care of her son and enjoying motherhood. She says. "I love seeing him grow and play with his toys and learning to interact with everyone." Shirley also enjoys The Walking Dead, seeing new movies, cooking, going to comedy shows, and spending time with her husband, family, and pets. Shirley's pets include two Pugs named Chiquita and Loki, two cats named Baby and Gucci, and three fish.

Dagoberto "Dago" Varula joined the medical staff at Essex Animal Hospital in September 2016. His daily responsibilities include filling medications and assisting the doctors with veterinary examinations. Dago has a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Sciences, and enjoys working with animals. He's been the animal-care field since 2007.

"I like the team work at Essex Animal Hospital, and how everyone works well together," Dago says. Outside of the hospital, he enjoys playing tennis and Xbox games.

PattyOffice Manager Patty Wendling has been assisting clients at Essex Animal Hospital since coming on board in 2002. Her job responsibilities include answering phones, scheduling appointments, and addressing all client concerns.

"I like the clients we get to work with, and the days here are always busy with fresh, interesting challenges," Patty says. "I also love the staff here - they're like my second family."

Patty is the proud pet parent of two cats named Bonnie and Brody, as well as three dogs named Tank, Lacey, and Turner. In her free time she enjoys having new adventures with her husband, like going to the beach or to parks. "Anything outdoors - fun in the sun is my motto," Patty says.

Michael Sandillo is a veterinary assistant at Essex Animal Hospital. He joined the team in February of 2016. Michael's favorite part of the job is being able to help animals and their owners in many different ways. He has a bachelor's in psychology from Kean University. Michael's calm demeanor allows him to work well with pets in all capacities.

At home, Michael has two dogs: Rollie, a hound mix and Ziggy, a Pomeranian/ dachshund mix (also referred to as a "domeranian"); as well as a cat named Bashful. In his free time, Michael enjoys playing hockey, playing the drums, watching movies and volunteering at the animal shelter as a veterinary assitant, adoption counselor and foster program coordinator.

PattyEvelyn Rojas joined the team at Essex Animal Hospital as a client services representative in February of 2016. Evelyn is responsible for greeting clients, answering the phone, setting appointments and more. She is currently enrolled in Bergen Community College's veterinary technician program.

"Essex Animal Hospital is a great place to work because of the great service the vets and staff provide to clients and especially their pets," says Evelyn.

Evelyn shares her home with LaLa, a labradoodle, Junior, a Bichon-poo, and Molly, a Yorkshire terrier. When she's not working or in school, she enjoys camping, hiking, shopping and spending time with her family.

Tracy Ehrhardt joined the staff at Essex Animal Hospital in December 2016. As a client service representative, she is responsible for greeting clients, checking patients in, answering the phone, settling billing and selling prescription food. Tracy's favorite part of the job is making sure the clients have all their needs met, and making sure that their visit goes smoothly.

"The doctors, staff and clients at Essex Animal have long-standing relationships," Tracy says. "It truly reveals the quality of care when we are trusted with generations of pets from the same family."

Prior to joining Essex Animal Hospital, Tracy volunteered as a cat manager at Tri-Boro Animal Welfare in Butler, NJ. She also earned a bachelor's degree in speech communication from Ithaca College. At home, Tracy has two domestic shorthair cats named Roxy and Rufus. In her free time, she enjoys sewing, particularly modern quilting and clothing. Tracy also enjoys hiking and being outdoors.

Deanne Duva first worked at Essex Animal Hospital between the years 1995 and 1999. She rejoined the hospital in November 2016 as a client service representative. Deanne's responsibilities include greeting clients, answering phones, billing invoices and providing support for the front desk. Her favorite part of the job is getting to interact with such great clients and their pets.

"I enjoy working with the staff of Essex Animal Hospital," Deanna says. "They are like a family, and very caring. The doctors here show compassion for all of their clients and pets. It's a great place to work."

At home, Deanna has three Shiatzus named Scrappy, Pepper and Coco Bear. Outside of the hospital, she is working towards her associate degree. Deanna enjoys spending her free time with her pets, taking trips, going to the beach and craft fairs, enjoying movies, reading and baking.
