KelliHead Veterinary Technician Kelli Tromans has been with our team since 1995. She overwatches inventory, scheduling, assisting with surgeries, x-rays, dentals, and much more. She thoroughly enjoys the family atmosphere here at Essex Animal Hospital and is always happy to help restore sick pets back to good health.

"Doctors will take their time here to explain things to me, which is extremely helpful," Kelli says. "It's a real family atmosphere."

At home, Kelli has two chihuahuas, Bully and Beanie. She enjoys spending time with her three children, traveling, cooking, and visiting breweries and wineries.

GerardoVeterinary Technician Gerardo Clavijo assists the doctors in surgeries and procedures. He loves being a part of surgeries. He also helps translate for clients being fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese. He has been in animal-related fields for over twenty years and was even an animal hospital owner himself! He loves working in the hospital because every day is different and fun. At home, he has a dog named Milena and some fish. In his spare time, he enjoys exploring the city, gardening and shopping.

ShirleyVeterinary Technician Shirley Silva Rosario helps clients and their pets during appointments, surgeries and more. She loves working with her coworkers and feels like they are family! She also loves watching patients grow from puppies to adults. She is very amicable and is bilingual as well! She has her Associates in Specialized Veterinary Technology and has been involved animal-related fields for over a decade. Shirley enjoys learning and working with patients. At home, she has a dog named Loki, two cats named Baby and Gucci and a fish. When not in the office, she loves spending time with her son and husband.

PattyAs Office Manager of Essex Animal Hospital, Patty Wendling is an important influence in our daily operations. She helps with many duties that enable our hospital to run effectively like scheduling appointments, answering phones, handling all our client concerns or requests, and much more. Patty has a team-oriented mentality every day she comes to work and provides overall help and guidance to our staff. She has been working in the veterinary field since 2000 and was welcomed to our team in February of 2003.

Patty’s favorite aspect about working for Essex Animal Hospital is working closely with our patients and clients. She also loves to feed our patients a yummy treat to brighten their visit with us. Patty is always in a good mood and is continually smiling. She illuminates our hospital with her wonderful smile and cheer.

“I love working at Essex Animal Hospital because I like working with the clients and patients!” Patty proclaims. “They make every day interesting and exciting. I love the staff here, they are my second family.”

Away from the hospital Patty likes to spend her time with her husband and their pets. They own a French Mastiff named Tank, a Border Collie Mix named Lacey, and two domestic short hair cats named Bonnie and Lucy. Patty loves walking in the park and being at the beach. She has fun in the sun whenever she can and tries to live her life to the fullest. She loves to laugh, have a good time, and share her infectious smile.

Michael Sandillo Michael is a full-time veterinary technician here at Essex Animal Hospital. He graduated from Kean in 2006 and worked as an adoption counselor and shelter vet tech prior to joining our team in February of 2016. Michael assists our doctors during appointments and surgeries, refills medication, performs dentals, and creates dental kits for clients to take home.

In his free time, Michael enjoys playing hockey, going to the movies, and attending concerts. He has a cat named Toothless and a Crested Gecko named Mondo.

PattyEssex Animal Hospital was delighted to welcome Evelyn Rojas as our of our phenomenal Receptionists and Veterinary Assistants in February of 2016. Since joining our team Evelyn has been working hard on both the client service and veterinary care sides of our hospital. Some of her Receptionist obligations include providing her assistance to clients in need, answering phones, setting appointments, and much more. Evelyn is bilingual in both English and Spanish, which helps her communicate more effectively with all our clients.

She takes helping one step further by aiding during appointments, taking x-rays, running blood tests and other diagnostic work, and helping her team members and our veterinarians with anything they need. Evelyn is great at balancing her various responsibilities around the hospital, but her favorite thing to do is utilize our x-ray equipment and technologies.

Evelyn began her pursuit of an education in veterinary care at Bergen Community College having studied Veterinary Technology and finished her degree at Cedar Valley College. She has been working in the animal related field since 2005 and loves her profession.

In her free time, Evelyn loves to spend time her family and pets. She owns a Labradoodle named Lala, a Bichon-Poo named Junior, and an Ocicat Mix named Rosie. Evelyn also enjoys going for walks at national parks like Zion, in Utah, the Grand Canyon, Yosemite, in California, and others. She loves traveling, camping, and being outside.

Tracy Ehrhardt joined the staff at Essex Animal Hospital in December 2016. As a Client Service Representative, she is responsible for greeting clients, checking patients in, answering the phone, settling billing and selling prescription food. Tracy's favorite part of the job is making sure the clients have all their needs met and making sure that their visit goes smoothly. She is a graduate of Ithaca College and possesses a bachelor’s degree in Speech Communication.

“The doctors, staff and clients at Essex Animal have long-standing relationships," Tracy says. "It truly reveals the quality of care when we are trusted with generations of pets from the same family.”

Prior to joining Essex Animal Hospital, Tracy volunteered as a cat manager at Tri-Boro Animal Welfare in Butler, NJ. She also earned a bachelor's degree in speech communication from Ithaca College. In her free time, she enjoys sewing, particularly modern quilting and clothing. Tracy also enjoys hiking and being outdoors.

Deanne Duva a great Client Service Representative who is dedicated to our clients and their individual needs. She was a team member from 1995 through 1999 and was happily welcomed back part-time in December of 2016. Deanna helps with answering phones, greeting our fantastic clients and patients, processing billing invoices, and supporting the needs of our front desk. Her favorite thing about her role with Essex Animal Hospital is the interaction with such a great group of clients and their irreplaceable pets.

“I enjoy working with all the staff at Essex Animal Hospital,” Deanna says. “They are like family and are very caring. The doctors here are compassionate for all the clients, pets, and our team.”

Deanna loves spending her free time with her pets, Shih-Tzus named Scrappy, Pepper, and Coco Bear. She also loves to travel and take trips, including going to the beach. In her down time, Deanna can be found with a good read or spending time with loved ones.

Andrea Mayen is a certified veterinary assistant. Some of her responsibilities here at Essex Animal Hospital include assisting our doctors and filling prescriptions. Andrea enjoys interacting with and getting to know our patients and clients. She is fluent in both English and Spanish.

At home, Andrea cares for two cats of her own (Toby and Bandit). She enjoys going to the movies, camping, and spending time with her family.

Debby Viney has been working with Essex Animal Hospital since September of 2016 as once of our incredible Client Service Representatives. Some of her duties include greeting our patients and clients, scheduling appointments, processing invoices, and supporting the front desk however needed. The best part about working with Essex Animal Hospital to Debby is the feeling she has being apart of such a compassionate team. Helping clients and patients feel at ease is very satisfying to her.

She has a background with bulldog rescue and has been helping animals and people in need of veterinary services since 2010. She was the Director of Mid-Atlantic Bulldog Rescue and was a Volunteer Manager for Liberty Humane Society. Through these organizations Debby has helped foster and rescue numerous animals in need. She also possesses a certificate in Pet Product Marketing from Fashion Institute of Technology.

“The staff and clients at Essex Animal Hospital feel like family,” Debby says. “Watching pets come in as puppies or kittens grow with us is fascinating. Our clients always make us smile and it’s nice to see generations of family and pets grow with us.”
