Extremely disappointing and frustrating experience. I had a follow-up appointment for my kitten at 12:00 PM and walked in at 12:11 PM. I was immediately told there is a strict 10-minute grace period — interesting, considering this policy was never mentioned in any email, reminder, or prior communication. Apparently, patients are expected to magically know the rules. Even more impressive, I was told there was NO WAY any time today I could be seen and that I had to reschedule next week — while at the same time being told the next patient had already been taken in. So within that ā€œgrace period,ā€ my appointment slot was already gone? That’s a very efficient way of redefining what a ā€œgrace periodā€ means. Also worth noting: I did not receive a single confirmation call in the two weeks leading up to this appointment. But enforcing an undisclosed policy? That seems to be handled with great precision. The front desk staff was dismissive and completely unwilling to help — no attempt to offer solutions, no basic courtesy, just a flat refusal. On top of that, pricing is inconsistent and unclear. I received an email stating the exam fee would be $80, which is why I booked last time. I was later charged $96 with no clear explanation. Transparency clearly isn’t a priority here either. To be fair, the doctors I’ve seen before were kind and professional. It’s unfortunate that the front desk experience completely undermines that. Overall, between the poor communication, inconsistent policies, and lack of basic customer service, this was an incredibly frustrating experience.

Bright, clean office and exam rooms. Staff always friendly and helpful. Dr. Polack is a very caring Dr. He explains every step of the way of examination, answers all concerns and questions. Highly recommend Essex Animal Hospital, Bloomfield, NJ

Great neighborhood vet. I had a surprise issue with my cat while traveling. Dr. Lee and team were thorough, responsive, and explained the medical side in an understandable way. Take your fur babies here!
We love Essex Animal Hospital. They are so kind, thorough, helpful and just overall wonderful. From the front desk to the vet techs to the actual vets - top notch!

I'm sad to say this place let me down and even offended me. Ive brought my baby here twice before and that doctor seemed sort of nonchalant. However I overlooked it since my dog was feeling fine. He very well may be gone actually, our final experience we had a female Vet. Dr.Colin threw over $1000 worth of various test at me, the vet I took him too charged me less than half of that and sent us home feeling happy and healthy. To a degree that was minuscule, I understand it was unknown what was wrong with my dog but I also felt like there was a better way to go about it so I had planned on doing some research for myself. What set me off was the owner calling me 730pm(after business hours) insisting to speak with me that very moment about a mistake made on their part. Upon answering I asked to call back later and was told they are closed so he wont be there, I then said ok you may call me tomorrow and he insisted we talk now. He proceeded to ask what happened with the payment because the receptionist charged me the wrong amount, I waited about 20-30 extra minutes while they worked on the mistake and we agreed they could keep my card number and charge me when its fixed. The owner made it sound as though I had no intention of paying and asked me whats going to be done. I mentioned my wait time as the receptionist worked on the issue and how that was inconvenient and he continued to interrogate me. No apologies for any of the inconvenience that day or for the misunderstanding on his part, I'm 28 year old African American who looks like shes about 18 so perhaps he felt I was young and shiest y, whatever it may, it was very rude and unprofessional. Talk to your staff before running off your customers next time there buddy! Salute! p.s. During the wait the receptionist was actually really sweet, the receptionist in there are always very sweet.

I have taken my medically sensitive French bulldog to Dr. Ann for 6 years now. I have moved 2 times, each time moving further away. I currently live almost an hour from the office but will never go anywhere else. I can’t thank Dr. Ann and the entire team enough for the level of care they have provided for Pierre but also our entire family. I come with a few kids in tow and the team is always so kind and accommodating. Dr Ann goes above and beyond every time. Pierre has had numerous medical episodes and Dr Ann’s knowledge and care are invaluable. Thank you Dr. Ann, Dr. Dolin and Essex Anjmal hospital. Our family loves you!
